@Delectable Wine Why is there so much shouting on this label? I mean it's great, but I prefer understated 😉.

Lovely nose of tweed jacket, ripe black cherries, sweet blackberries and tons of granite. Floral as well. Really nice. Palate is ripe and rich with wonderful treacly texture and terrific balance and fruit definition. Exceptional finish and freshness. One of the better 18’s for sure. Nice red plum as well developing on the nose. Velvety tannins and substantial structure suggests a good 10-15 years ahead of it and better likely in 5 years. With air fruit gets lusher and sweeter. Terrific stuff!

Mar 30th, 2022Nose has muddled blackberries, over-ripe black cherries, sweet black licorice (not overly anise type), wet potting soil and moist leather.
Palate has blackberry compote, plum skin, ripe mulberry, lavender, old/dry leather and faint molasses cookie. Bold and jammy.
Slow oxidation 4H, then double-decant for service. Improvement in our glasses.
As I understand, this is only the second vintage which Marrans bottled the Lieu-dit 'Champagne' as a separate wine, normally a blending parcel that goes into their top cuvée.

From a slice of land in the Pavillon, their other top Fleurie Cuvee. This is old school and awesome. What a nose. Big huge blackberry and cherry fruit. Also some licorice. Just jumps out at ya. Also loads of tweed jacket and even some watermelon. So vibrant and expressive. Earth and mineral frame the fruit so well. Concentrated and juicy wirh amazing sappy purity and fruit is all skin now but I’m sure will open up as it airs. Tight now but it is all there. Finish is short initially then slowly expands with air. I’ll be back with more details soon. Once it opens more.

1 person found it helpfulApr 25th, 2021Soaring aromas. Cherry compote, cherry flower, tweed jacket, raspberry. So clean but def a compote vibe. Licorice as well and deep earthen scents. Superb structure, energy and minerality. Bright and lifted with terrific clarity. Juicy, tangy and deep. Velvety and substantial tannins but so much energetic minerality makes this playful. This is a baby and needs 3-7 years. Terrific today but better tomorrow.
