Volnay Santenots-du-Milieu 1er Cru Pinot Noir

The 2013 Volnay Les Santenots-du-Milieu 1er Cru offers blackberry, raspberry, undergrowth and loamy scents on the nose, nicely defined and fresh after ten years. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly rustic tannins, ferrous, lifted acidity with maybe just a touch more bitterness on the finish than I would have liked. It's a tad dry, but this still has much to offer. I would drink this earlier than the 2013 Les Perrières. (Neal Martin, Vinous, October 2023)

2013, beautiful, cherry, blueberry, elegant, nice acidity.

Young, taut and mineral. Acidity is a little jarring at the moment. Fruit is subtle and muted. This often knits together nicely but at the moment it is awkward.

2013 at Publique the Hague . Musty nose pretty Austere wine with barnyard touches. Good burgundy but a bit tough to drink. Rustic, severe, serious and good but not great.

This is stunning--like a laser beam of pure crystalline red fruit and limestone terroir straight to your brain. And in a very difficult year no less
