2011. Lots of stuffing. Tastes like Rhone crossed with Cru Beaujolais. Looking forward to some age on it.

Strong gamay scent immediately vanishing into herbs and underbrush. A bit too much acidity on the palate.

Earthy. Kinda sweaty. Kinda salty. A total bargain. Could have passed for Chinon.

09 St-Amour, I was interested. Typically not the cru site I have seen with bottle age. To my surprise it was still a little tight and tasted youthful. Nose of faint cherry. Palette was young and ripe, yet for me left a little to be desired. One that could have benefited with some time to open up, yet a NYE party was not the time or place for that. Will revisit.

Been a few years since I had any 2009 Beaujolais and everyone says they're shut down now. Certainly not this one, which is as richly fruited as they all were on day one. People complained then that they were too ripe and fat but this one isn't that, either. The fruit is saturating but it is still slender in shape. So saturating that the tannin was essentially imperceptible for the first glass. After that it shows a bit more gauzy structure as well as some granitic minerality. I don't think it quite matches the ravishing elegance of the 2011 non-reserve bottling I had a few weeks ago, though it's certainly denser.
