Domaine de Trévallon
Alpilles Cabernet Syrah
Smackin’ good. The ripeness somes through with its lovely and heady fruit, but that classic herbal core and limestone snap. Lenghty finish and supreme pleasure here.

Nov 2nd, 2021The 2017 Alpilles Rouge is flat-out delicious. Ripe, plummy and forward, the 2017 offers tremendous immediacy. If I didn’t know how well Trévallon ages, I would be tempted to set an earlier drinking window, but the best is clearly yet to come. Next to other vintages that display a good bit of ripeness, the 2017 remains medium in body and silky. Sweet red berry fruit, flowers, cedar and earthy notes lead into the vibrant, translucent finish. I hope I can capture just how captivating the 2017 is. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, October 2020)

Apr 6th, 2020This was great. Showed the ripeness of the vintage but also so fresh. Amazing fruit and structure.

Sep 11th, 2017Biased but I love this wine. Always happy to have it in front of me, such a singular wine that was an “ah-ha” wine a few years back. Very young, tight with powerfully raw and grippy tannin. The WC character is apparent right now, savory and spice notes abound. Fir, menthol, pepper, forest floor, garrigue, cedar, cassis, blackberry, plum, chalk. The VA was in check to me and helps carry all the aromatics through.

Dec 23rd, 2015My favorite kind of wine: one that blurs boundaries and in so doing establishes itself as a singular bottle.
