To my mind, this is a perfect Cotes du Rhone. Heaven with garlicky roast chicken, stews, soups, mushroom risotto ... some may find it a bit fruity but I think the tannins give it a nice balance—& I’m not a fan of fruity wines.

Cedar, bay, fennel, graphite, and smoke. Light to medium tannins, assertive, and fully flavored. A delight!

QPR!! Lighter style CdR, dark (yet not heavy) fruit, just a hint of funk, really nice floral component (violet?) which is often offputting/overbearing to me. Really nice surprise. I'd buy a case of this easy!

More Burgundian than Southern Rhone.

I’m not sure I’ve ever had a Cote du Rhone from the village of Sablet. I certainly have never had one labeled as such. My initial impression is that this is just a notch above a standard southern CdR from a traditional producer so…I guess it’s about what one should expect. While the label states 80% Grenache and 20% Syrah, the Syrah really makes an impact here. The red cherry fruit from the Grenache actually came across sort of funky…in the reductive way that Syrah can often be. There was a sanguine character about it with some purple flowers too. Medium-lowish tannins and medium acidity. This is a wine for drinking now and over the next couple years, preferably with a hearty meal.

Love this—light Rhône with a little funk & character. Fabulous with polenta & chard with fish sauce, also with boeuf Bourguignon & mashed turnips. A casual but hearty little red. I think I’d love it with meatloaf, Bolognese sauce, roast chicken...
