Feb 27th, 2023This was a wine that was always a bit rough around the edges so I waited for to hopefully mellow with years of additional age. Unfortunately the fruit has faded somewhat and although the tough tannic edge has softened, the result is.just an average wine. Dark still with a nice bouquet, probably it’s best feature. Notes of red fruit, violets, oak, dark soil and some spice. Dry in the mouth, lacking fruit, with a corresponding drying finish. Have some cheese or something to go with it, as just by itself this is ho hum.

Dec 21st, 2018See previous wine... even more USD25 Nebbiolo character, so better wine but with even less Burgundy character... even weirder, with a quintessentialy hollow mid palate.

Mar 8th, 2018Dark cherry, black tea, fresh oregano, mixed peppers, and spice. Mid-weight and ready to consume. Was refreshing after a long week and good with chicken/herbs/sautéed mushrooms. Still had plenty of life and needed an hour plus in the decanter to start really showing.

A gorgeous (with not an iota of excess) intelligent wine that moved to match each course. Still thinking about it.

This has certainly been a Pommard harvest. This one is a just lovely, I think. Precise and strong and delicious.

1 person found it helpfulApr 20th, 2014Enigmatic and very shy at first, very closed up and linear, became slightly more expressive and generous of dark and red berries, violets and sousbois 2 days after being opened. Silly texture yet all around a bit underwhelming, I question the storage conditions. Bought at AM auction (May, 2016), sourced from a private collection.
