Domaine de la Romanée-Conti (DRC)
Marey-Monge Romanée-St. Vivant Pinot Noir
Côte de Nuits, Burgundy, France

Opened about an hour prior to service and enjoyed over the course of two days. Better on Day 2. The 2005 RsV pours a deep ruby color with a transparent core; medium viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing and dark fruited with ripe notes of black cherry, strawberry, red and purple flowers, licorice, dried green herbs, and gentle warm spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long. Always a special treat, the DRC comes across the most polished and frankly, primary in this lineup of legends. It fresh and beautifully balanced. It just needs time as the Day 2 experience indicated. The tannins are super sneaky. Drink now through 2050+ Bottle No. 1821/17392

Plush, lush. Rich fruit and great pose. Velvety texture, dark plum and black cherry. Floral notes and a gorgeous soft intensity. Long and textured. Delicious

Tangy and vivid. Punchy fruit plum and violets and rose with real clarity and intensity. Black pepper and vines taste. Very 2007. Loads of character. Great

I dislike this vintage in burgundy. Luckily Aubert was able to sort out the kinks in 2014

very dark and intense. Brooding. Dark violet and a gnarly underbrush. Violet and sage. Deep fruit, tang and intensity. Really good stuff.

To celebrate reaching 8,000 reviews on Vivino, I'm excited to share this beautiful wine with you.
This is a very special bottle for me. It was on my wishlist for years now, and here we are.
Dark ruby in color with a wide cloudy reddish/ brick rim.
Dry on the palate with great complexity and mouthfeel. Easy drinking and smooth.
Showing red currants, cherries, strawberries, light earth, tobacco leaf, herbs, black pepper and dark chocolates.
Long finish with fine grained tannins.
Elegant and fruit forward. Rich, and not showing its age at all.
Needed a few hours to open up properly, but good right out of the bottle too.
This 22 year old Pinot Noir from Côte D'or feels very young, and will continue to age nicely in the next 20 years and beyond.
Only 12,352 bottles were produced. This is bottle number 633.
13% alcohol by volume.
93 points.
$5,000.

Amazing to try this. Not the best DRC by any means, but likely one of the better 1994 reds.
