Grands Échézeaux Pinot Noir

I dunno. Maybe it was an off bottle or maybe it needs more time. But I was not stunned. The guest who brought it was likewise disappointed. Very linear raspberry fruit and not a lot else. Opened up quite a bit more after two hours decant. I feel like traitor for not being head over heels but I refuse to love a wine just because it's expensive and rare.

Not fair because it was opened in the wrong setting, with too many people and not opened with long enough. What a shame.

starting to fade just a tad. smoky, burnt brown sugar, light red hue beginning to turn. not as much depth as 95 DRC RSV drank side by side. drink now.

Pretty good effort. Like echezeaux, but.....grander? Interesting to contrast with the three different RsV's. Nice vintage, acidity for days. Peaty somehow on the nose. Hey, i didnt pay for it.

Pretty and intense fruit with great clarity. A touch mean in the end palate but very broad and defined

Its gonna be a good night! Compared to the 96, this is a notch down across the board. Nose is subtle and muted but pretty. Mouthful is nice but not amazing, finish is very very long and has more acidity compared to the 96 finish.

Showed beautifully throughout the night - not blow away, but such classic vogne. Nose is beautiful red fruits and some spice, just light and bright notes. Palate is so seamless, mid palate is expansive and finish is nice. Such a classic vosne with age.

WOTN. Subtle red fruits, flowers and Darjeeling tea. Killer aromatics. Just a beautiful wine
