These wines are so ridiculously good. Funky and wild cherry and berry fruit with minerals and earth, sweet exotic citrus. Soft tannins and prominent acid on the palate make this endlessly drinkable and a great foil for a wide variety of food. Enjoyed tonight with salt-crusted branzino, roasted potatoes, and a chicory salad with anchovy dressing.

When was the last time you drank a bottle of Poulsard/Ploussard? Put a slight chill on it and get funky.

Poulsard de L'Ami Karl, from 2ha plot. Bottled in April. Quite struck match notes, needs 6 months to lose it. Quite smoky, chalky, red fruit & vegetal. 2014 vintage. Small volumes due to fruit fly problems eating the juice (due to the thin skins of Poulsard and the early ripening). Takes swirling but the match note has gone. Sweeter than 2011, more fresh fruit. Good vibrancy. 89

God I love wine from the Jura. So red, fresh, and delicious. And 11% abv, so eminently gulpable. Tangy cranberries, pomegranates, and blood oranges. Iron. Dirt. Sweet spot

Strawberry and violet. Light, but wonderfully present and long on the palate. Pretty.

A lambic-lover's red wine. Light with volatile acidity and cherry fruits.
