Domaine de la Mordorée
La Dame Rousse Lirac Red Rhone Blend
Smells of that old barnyard where the cool kids hang out and smoke cigs..
Heavy handed, muted berries, anise, eucalyptus. Green.
Big chewy oak tannins, dark cherry acidity rounds it out.
Opened a little too young - needs another 5, at least!

Oct 30th, 2017Blend of 50% Grenache and 50% Syrah. Deep Ruby with aromas of berry fruits and floral notes. On the palate flavors of ripe cherry and blackberry with earthy flower notes. Fine dusty tannins on medium finish ending fruit and earthy mineral.

At cold temperatures, this is yummy, but rewards those with a little time, air, and warmth. I love that this wine changes over time in the glass. Not your simple rosé wine. Terrific producer.

Saline, anise, dark cherry pit, big , earth, mushroom, terroir. Smack your tongue around tannins, to fade elegantly to the acidic sunset.
This has loosened, and let its hair down, and has become a stunning wine to converse with.

50/50 Grenache/Syrah. Not getting much nose. Flavors of plummy black fruit, but alcoholic heat is high (14.5%).

Dark baked plummy fruits, blackberry cobbler qualities, charred wood, and provancal herb on the nose. The pallet was full, lush, and ever so slightly jammy, with sweet tobacco and dark chocolate covered cherry to the finish. It was great stand alone, and great with the Duck and Maple Glazed Ham, and all the roasted vegetables, etc. I'll be looking for more Lirac in the future.

Quite a sweet fruited mouthful, grippy, structured and very fleshy. Big fruit, dark spices, and good tobacco oak edge. Good wine that will go places in next 3-4 years.

Three distinct parts to this wine; front end, mid palate, and finish. The parts don't flow together, yet I find this an interesting quality. I'm intrigued. I might rate this higher with more time. I'd like to try this with a game dish.
