Domaine De La Grand'Cour (Jean-Louis Dutraive)
Clos de la Grand'Cour Fleurie Gamay
The 2020 Fleurie Chapelle des Bois has a little reduction on the nose, but there is good concentration here with wild strawberry and red cherry. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins, very pure and smooth. Touches of blood orange furnish the long and lively finish. Delicious. (Neal Martin, Vinous, May 2023)

May 12th, 2023Very pretty wine, fresh and vibrant, great energy. Crunchy fruit, wicked acidity. Some effervescent funk blows off quickly, this smooths out and deepens with time. Evolves quickly and persistently, a living wine, natural wine done right, complex and expressive and also clean and pure. This bottle anyway…

Sep 27th, 2019Plummy. Cinnamon and heavy clove. A little meat pie thing. Broad and ripe, a little brothy. Not too extracted, but missing freshness/ minerality. Disappointing; was expecting based on reviews to like this more. Could be bottle variation, there was definitely something microbial going on.

Here's a little retrospective on 2009 in Beaujolais and Burgundy. First, some Dutraive "Grand'Cour" Fleurie (oldest vintage I've had). At first, it showed some age on the nose but it soon opened up and gained momentum, still singing hours later when the night ended. Highly toned, bright with great acidity; you would never peg this as a warm vintage and no where near as opulent as 2015. Plenty of cinnamon spice notes which are the hallmark of this producer. Stood out against the bigger wines.
