W&S Top 100. Wait! Two! Mercy. I don’t even have a subscription to W&S. Why are they being so accommodating to my palate?

Smooth, medium body, semi-sweet finish, pairs nicely with a hanger steak.

Nice Cab Franc from the Loire. Quite deep in the glass. Very stereotypical green peppery notes on the nose. On the palate the fruit comes through but this definitely has some serious vegetal notes. Good acid on the finish. Nice.

Earthy and musty wood, medium high acid balanced though, medium full body, dry.

What a nose - velvety, perfectly ripe cab franc smoky dark fruit with some bell pepper and tobacco accents. A bit of a let down on the palate: truly velvety texture and lovely fruit but lacking intensity and fades a touch too quickly on the finish. Still, a heck of a deal for 20 year old wine at $50.

Has aged beautifully, wonderful leather, pepper and sous bois aromas to complement the light red fruits.
