First Fleurie! I've had this producer's Morgon a couple times, and I'm definitely a fan, but I haven't tried this yet so I thought I'd give it a shot. Rhubarb, fresh strawberry, potting soil and forest floor, violet, sandalwood, a tiny bit of lavender and garrigue, and a little bit of brett, although that's not unwelcome here and it's not overwhelming. Nice, moderate building acidity, tannins barely noticeable, adding just a bit more texture as opposed to any real grip. Speaking of that, texture is definitely a strong point of this wine. Quite supple and velvety. A bit closed on opening, but it opened up relatively quickly just letting the bottle stay open as it warmed up from "cellar" (aka my wine fridge) temp. A bit less floral than I anticipated from what I've read about Fleurie, but I suppose this is one example and not all of them are going to have the exact same profile, so it motivates me to get into the region a bit more to see how the wines can differ intra-regionally. Overall, definitely satisfied.

Oh Gamay, you beautiful underrated sweetheart. I hope beaujolais nouveau ruins your reputation forever, so I can have you all to myself.
