Dark ruby in color with a wide reddish rim.

Fresh red berries on the nose with Indian spices and chocolate notes.

Medium in body with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate and complex.

Showing raspberries, cherries, black currants, plums, light oak, spices, chocolates, earth, coffee, wet leaves and herbs.

Medium length on the finish with round tannins and tangy cherries.

This young Grenache blend from Châteauneuf-du-Pape is very approachable, and already drinking beautifully, but needs a few years in the bottle to mature properly.

Well balanced and tangy, with good structure. Spicy and entertaining. Alcohol is nicely integrated already. Complex and engaging.

I had this wine as a 20 year old, and it was so much better with age.

This 2022 vintage in Châteauneuf-du-Pape is already showing its possibilities. Will continue to age nicely in the next 25 years.

Delicious by itself or with food.

A blend of mostly Grenache, from 40 year old vines, with all 13 grapes allowed in the appellation. Aged in used French oak barrels for 12 months.

15% alcohol by volume.

Opened about 8 hours prior to service and Audouze’d. The 1995 pours a pale garnet with a transparent core and a watery rim. There significant variation of the rim too. The viscosity is medium and there is no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing (still!) with notes of bright red cherries, anise, garrigue, cedar forest, leather, dry earth. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium tannins and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The body is quite light and thin…but healthy. The finish is medium. Very pretty; very Burgundian. This bottle belies its age. Drink now and through 2030.

Blend of about 2/3 Grenache, with Syrah, Mourvèdre, and a mix of permitted varieties. Medium Ruby with aromas of ripe black fruits and earthy pepper spice. On the palate complex rich flavors of cherry and blackberry, with oak, leather, cacao and earthy spice. Full body, well balanced, fine tannins, long finish, perfect now but will continue to age. Outstanding!

Poured half the bottle into an empty water pitcher about 30 minutes before service and enjoyed over several hours. The 2015 pours a deep ruby with medium+ viscosity and moderate staining of the tears. Some slight signs of sediment. The initial glass showed very powerful bramble fruit with leather, coffee, licorice and mushrooms. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium + tannins and medium acid. The notes from the nose were confirmed. The finish was long and rich. Overall impression was that this bottle very good but showing signs of secondary characteristics sooner than expected. Several hours later, I revisited the remaining half of the bottle and, to my surprise, it had really brightened up! The tannin had become more fierce, and the secondary characteristics were largely gone. It’s almost as if it got younger after extended exposure to air. Hard to say with any confidence what the future holds for these but they are plenty fun to drink now and I don’t expect them to fall apart anytime soon. That being said, they may need several hours of air to freshen up.

Ruby in color with a short brick rim.

On the nose black currant, black cherries, black plums, wet leaves, vanilla, earth, wood, vegetables, tobacco leaf, dark chocolates, espresso and black pepper.

Full bodied with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate with black currants, plums, cooked cherries, cedar, vanilla, spices, espresso, earth, vinaigrette, tobacco leaf, herbs and black pepper.

Medium finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.

This is a very enjoyable red blend from Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Nicely aged with nice complexity and mouthfeel.

Needed a couple of hours to open up properly. Spicy and interesting with lots of earth notes. Delicious.

This 19 year old is peaking now so drink up.

Good by itself or with food. I paired it with fresh pizza.

14.5% alcohol by volume.

93 points.

The nose went on forever. Gritty, fresh wet earth, tobacco, with browned edges. Flavor profile was soft but still packing prune, fig, raisin and dark cacao. Really paid well with an array of BBQ items + salads.

This CDP is not quite as mind blowing or complex as others I’ve had, but it is quintessentially Rhône with some added uniqueness. Crushed rock, spice, ripe raspberry, tannic and vibrant, slightly chemical and balsamic quality.
