Domaine Colbois
Bourgogne Chitry Chardonnay
Pretty solid Chablis-like Chardonnay. Clearly unoaked, the nose has tons of crushed rock, chalky minerality with some Granny Smith apple skin fruit underneath. On the palate, it’s quite minerally. I’m not sure if it’s the vintage or the terroir since I don’t have much experience with Chitry, but it seem to lack just a little bit of the crisp, acid-driven vibrancy I love in good Chablis. Still, it’s quite nice and a good value.

Dec 7th, 2022Wow. This is really good right out of the gate. Reminiscent of a 1er Cru Chablis. Nose is intensely earthy/mineral, with straw-inflected appley fruit underneath. A little of that Chablis brothiness I associate with Kimmeridgien (sp.?) terroir. Intensely flavored in the mouth, with the acids and the minerality combining for some serious pucker. Crisp, bone dry, and refreshing. Would be amazing with grilled shrimp or prawns.
