Domaine Christian Moreau Père et Fils
Les Clos Chablis Grand Cru Chardonnay
The 2019 Chablis Les Clos Grand Cru has an effervescent bouquet with orange zest and almond scents. Seaspray touches come through with aeration. The palate is well balanced with a pleasant sour lemon twist on the entry, relatively fresh and tensile with a brisk, quite peppery, lemony finish that lingers in the mouth. Superb. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting. (Neal Martin, Vinous, December 2023)

The 2019 Chablis Les Clos Grand Cru has a clean, precise, more floral bouquet than the Valmur; white flower petal scents infuse the citrus fruit, along with a hint of egg whites. The palate is well balanced, taut and linear, with great poise and nervosité, leading to an intense and very persistent finish. This will vie with the Valmur as best Grand Cru. (Neal Martin, Vinous, October 2021)

Extremely reductive to the point of seeming oxidized. With decant the wine freshened up significantly and displayed briny, mineral character, depth, and length.

Jun 29th, 2020The 2017 Chablis Les Clos Grand Cru is a gorgeous, sophisticated wine. Exotic white flowers, mint, citrus and crushed rocks are some of the many notes that lift from the glass in a vivid, striking Chablis that speaks to finesse more than anything else. The intensity of the flavors is just remarkable, and yet the wine is light on its feet, gracious and incredibly inviting. The brisk, refreshing finish is sublime. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, January 2020)

A few wines from last week’s 4th Friday event!
I am hit or miss on enjoying Chablis, but this is one of the best I’ve had in recent memory. And so youthful! Flinty, steely, and tightly coiled notes of lemon sherbet, limestone, honeysuckle, minerality on the backbone of ripping acid and pure, energetic fruit. Very good now. Aging glacially. Thanks @Dan Fitzgerald .

Dec 26th, 2019Nice with some age attached to it. But it was also the last wine of an extensively vinous night... so no TN here; look elsewhere.
