Domaine Chofflet-Valdenaire
Givry Pinot Noir
Surprisingly delicious. Sad it doesn't seem widely available.

Ruby with ripe red berry fruit aromas. On the palate, this wine displays cherry and blackberry fruit with earthy notes, noticed a bit of spice. Tannins are soft and savory, good balance, ending with a slight mineral finish, medium length. Nice value.

Compartments of sweet black cherries, baseball mitt, cedar, and limestone form to a point of a fortified dark syrupy cherry juice. At 14.5% it isn't as bright, candied, or cola-ed as you'd expect.
It's dark, spicy, and wholesome.

Clear color, on tangy red berries (strawberry, redcurrant, morello cherries). Light and easy to drink, cut to drink within 3-5 years. Serve at 15 degrees to get the most out of it.
Robe claire, sur les petits fruits rouges acidulés (fraise, groseille, griottes). Léger, et gouleyant, taillé pour être bu dans les 3-5 ans. A servir à 15 degrés pour en profiter au maximum.

Silky smooth and fruity. Classic fine Burgundy flavor at a reasonable price. I got a weird metallic flavor when drinking it with charcuterie. I guess that’s a bad pairing but it was fantastic on its own.

Jun 30th, 2019Really good stuff. Light cherry, blackberry, blueberry mainly, getting a bit of prune on the finish. Not tannic, just nice and light (but not too light). Well balanced, good mouthfeel, “very nice” is how I would describe it. Not nuanced or challenging, just a very nice red wine that I would enjoy anytime anywhere.
