Love this site and what Romaric does with it. Nose is buttery and mineral. Loads of green apple and pear. Gorgeous and precise with unreal depth. Palate is just rocking. Unreal depth, juiciness and sapidity. What a mid palate and the linearity of this is special. Juicy like nothing else and sicko length. A rockstar. Silky. Mineral. So nimble. Just a brilliant wine. Wow. Crazy spice on the nose now. Just insane. This is truly breathtaking.

Apr 16th, 2026The very rare Vireuils from Chavy. Nose needs 35 minutes to open up. Starts matchsticky, some discreet oak and a ton of minerals. But under that is lime zest, gorgeous minerals and a sense of rockiness. This is a nose of place. Palate is stunning. It has a rainwater chablis thing but is also so refined and well integrated that is speaks of high end winemaking here. Amazing purity. My partner @Matthew Cohen is bonkers for giving this a 9.3 but he is stingy as Burghound. A stunningly pure and deep bottle of Meursault that does have Chablis vibes. Elegance doesn’t even begin to describe this.

This is in a fantastic place. Composed fruit, taught acidity, lovely length, sort of Chablis like but with deeper Meursault vibes. An excellent qpr for this lieu dit. I was surprised how well balanced and vibrant this is. I suppose not all ‘18s are sub par. Love this producer.
