Les Charmes Meursault 1er Cru Chardonnay

Nose is youthful. Mineral, waxey, lemony, rich, nutty, tree bark. Cannot believe how youthful. Nose has huge tight focus and clarity. Floral. Hint of creaminess. Wow. Complex and youthful with incredible depth snd minerality. Superb. Elegant. Sappy.

Silly great nose. Subtle spices, elegant apples, brown sugar, glorious mineralic spices, pear flesh and green apple skins, even jellied apples, so complex and haunting. Smells so harmonious and complete. The nose is also harmonious and orb like which is what 18 is so good at. Amazing spice and complexity on the palate and big acidity. Highest acidity of any Chavy 18 so far. Incredible inner mouth salinity, like the most gorgeous salt placement on one’s palate ever then straight into just absolutely crazy complexity and freshness. What energy and straight as an arrow. The purity is top notch. The finish just dissipates and the harmony is so gorgeous. What a finish. Minutes at least. Amazing amount of material on the palate and subtle concentration. So saline and juicy. Incredible.

Always a treat to open this Charmes. Nose has loads of baking spices, green apple skins, huge clear minerality, like smelling fresh air, gorgeous hint of florals, zero sense of woods unreal purity on this, palate is superbly complex, linear with great energy and a sappy intense mineral driven structure. Such a lean Charmes! Love it. That opulence and richness one can get from Charmes is there but man is this chiseled. Gorgeous. Insane complexity already. Chewy and structured and gets richer with air but the chisel stays as is.

Gorgeous and refined nose. Spice, mineral, flowers, apple skin. Really nuanced. Palate is incredible. Huge acidity and density with ample mineral and spice. Years to go but standout tonight. Lovely nutty mineral finish that does not quit.

Broad, ripe Chardonnay. Adequate acidity.

Been a while and this is better than ever. Gorgeous nose of lemon zest, butter, minerals. Iodine and hazelnuts abound. Wonderful aromatic precision. Palate is full, juicy and concentrated and goes to every nook and cranny of your palate. Loads of mineral, grilled nuts, lemon, terrific acidity and balance. What poise and richness yet finishes salty, mineral and long. Awesome.

Now sitting with it after a long day. Huge mineral nose with some delicate honeysuckle and white flowers. Gorgeous. Weightless and very mineral on the palate. Complex and deep, with an almost painful concentration that leads to a mineral/playful and very well defined and mineral chiseled finish. Terrific integration and only a baby now but the pedigree is there.

A new producer for me. Really enjoyable. Clean and delicate, really expanded with air. Lovely baking spices, Asian pear, apple blossom.
