Domaine Chante Cigale
Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhone Blend
This is a very enjoyable CDP. Showing black fruits with chocolates, earth, wood, vanilla, vegetables, dark coffee, herbs, spices, peppercorn, leather, vinaigrette and tobacco leaf.
Medium plus in body with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry on the palate and very yummy. At this point it is showing great complexity and mouthfeel.
Good by itself or with food. Good right out of the bottle and better as it opens up and shows some tannins.
Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.
This is a from a great vintage, Drinking, very nicely now, and will age nicely in the next 10 years.
Robert Parker 94 points.
I paired it with a charcuterie board of meats and cheeses.
A blend of 65% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 10% Mourvedre and 5% Cinsault. Aged in stainless steel vats (70%) and new oak barrels (30%).
15% alcohol by volume.
92 points.
$50.

Still tight on the nose and lean on the palette. With generous decanting there is meaty fruit, steeped in garrigue.

3 people found it helpfulMar 3rd, 2014Closed for business, though hints of really good potential. Classic profile of cassis, blackberry, herbs d'provence. A solid texture , ripe but firm tannins , check back in 2-3 years.

Jun 7th, 2020Had this one locked away then hurricane power failure got to my collection so was unsure if this one. Nonetheless it was OK CDP though less sublime than other examples of the class. Even after 10 years I feel like it needed to mellow more the tannin.
