Cornas Syrah

Popped and poured (not particularly recommended at this young age); enjoyed over the course of 90 minutes. The 2019 pours a deep ruby/purple color with a near opaque core; medium+ viscosity with significant staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with fabulous notes of wild, dark brambles, purple flowers, bacon fat, spiced cured meats, purple Flintstones vitamins, a touch of the animale, a balanced combo of cool and warm spices and granitic minerals. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and the texture is like a mink glove. Baller Cornas. Deep, deep aromas, of blackberry, even some cassis, grilled meats and a fuck-ton of granite. Wild herbs galore and mad lavender. Just magic. The nose is a perfect 10. It might close down but right now it’s utterly profound. Palate is ridiculous. Density without weight. Nose is hitting all levels.

Just awesome. Layered, complex, round and pure. Granitic base. Drinking so well now.

For what it’s worth, this was showing its best after some air and I’d probably recommend at least a 30min decant if opening at this stage. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of mostly ripe and some tart black and red fruits: blackberries, raspberries, purple flowers, black pepper, grilled meat, dried green herbs, rocky earth and gentle spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose though the black pepper is even more prominent here. The finish is long and tremendously satisfying. Another absolute beauty from Cuchet-Béliando. Drink now with patience and through 2048. Thanks for the assist @Lyle Fass

Very pretty. Lucid fruit. Good structure with a savory and animal element. Not too intense but very correct with black pepper and herbs. Good stuff

Usually perfect wine but this bottle was majorly closed. For 2 days. But the finesse, breading and class still shined through. Closed a 9.7.

Young and stunning. Hard to taste with so many older Rhônes.

Yup. Wine does get better.

Best bottle of this I’ve had. Outrageous. Round nose, palate so delicate, just seamless. Finish is minutes.
