Domaine Billaud-Simon
Montée de Tonnerre Chablis 1er Cru Chardonnay
The 2019 Chablis Montée de Tonnerre 1er Cru is well-defined on the nose, offering crushed stone and subtle earthy scents; a faint touch of white flowers emerges with aeration. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, taut and linear. A reserved, lightly spiced Chablis with a brisk, quite saline finish. It just needs a little more in the way of persistence. (Neal Martin, Vinous, October 2021)

These have all been consistently good though not mind blowing on this go round.

Feb 7th, 2019Incredibly charming aromas of lemon and chalk and joined on the palate with a touch of toast on the finish. Medium-bodied and has the overall charm of an old friend you catch up with over dinner. Glad I have more of this and won’t be shy about opening on the least provocation vs a premier event.
