Domaine Berlancourt
Bourgogne Chardonnay
Nose is mineral, apple, apple cider, a hint of reduction as well. These wines always need 45 mins to an hour and a half to come into its own. No matter what vintage or level. Palate is scintillating with energy to burn and lovely richness. Icing on cake texture. Such vivid fruit. Loads of apples and more apples on top of that. Nose getting more apple pie like on the nose. This is so so well made. A wonderful wine. So juicy and long. What a gem this winery is.
Now with air nose gets confectionary. Outrageous basic bottling.

This is actually a new bottling. The other wines in this category are wrong. I think the others are all Equinces. Anyway nose is a bit reduced and stinky. Lots of sulfur aromas. Funky and odd. Color is a tiny bit hazy as well. As it aerates it gets more green apple and mineral. Tree bark. Wet hay. Very complex. Superb minerality. Palate is so clean, so complex and has such dazzling purity and an almost effervescence. It is super elegant and wow oh wow is it pure. Nose is coming along, but likely needs 30 ish minutes. Floats on the palate. Green apple fruit and a sucrosity make this ultra irresistible. Wow what inner mouth aromas. So juicy and lean in it’s own way while also being very generous. Long finish. Longer than it should be. Amazing balance. Such a nice new intro wine. From parcels in Puligny. Almost a 9.3. Might be one. I’ll be back. Okay. It’s a 9.3 now. What an insane confectionary quality on the 2018 aromas after some air. Sweet brown sugar and green apple skins. Stunning.

Nov 23rd, 2020Very quiet nose off the bat. Faint minerality. Palate is alive, stunning and well though. Concentrated, powerful and complex. So sappy and dense with wonderful structure, sap and richness. Juicy and long with such intensity. Really really pure. This punches way above its weight.
