Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru Chardonnay

The 2018 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru sees no new oak and is aged instead in one and two-year-old 350-litre barrels. It has a gorgeous bouquet with lemon curd, nectarine and crushed rock aromas, very seductive even at this premature stage. The palate is well balanced with a saline entry, fresh and crisp with an almost graphite tinged finish. So much nervosité is coiled up in this Bâtard - it will give 20-30 years of drinking pleasure. Oh my Burgundy. Citrus bloom on the nose , a touch of melon.

Perfectly balanced with good acidity, ample fruit and soft, buttery texture. Very enjoyable wine with long finish.

Rich- this stuff rips.

Actually preferred their Referts 2014 over this one but I think it was because the former was more accessible at this moment in time.

Great Balance between fruit (lemon zest), minerality and acidtiy. So long. Great wine. Huge.

3/5 600 bottiglie anno vigne di 50 anni, 18 mesi di legno 40% nuovo più 8 mesi in vasche sui lieviti. Ha stentato tanto ad aprirsi e quando gli altri iniziavano a sedersi lui ha preso il sopravvento. Legno più netto al naso, ginestre e camomilla, the verde, pere kaiser e mela cotogne, equilibrio non perfetto, leggermente spostato verso le note morbide, nel finale una nota morbida di cenere e burro.

2013 vintage. Lovely nose. Some butter notes from malo. Good acidity. Medium body. Medium plus concentration. Nice but not a show stopper by any means.
