This was my WOTF among impressive company. Profound rocky soiled pleasures on full tilt. Amber edges and just so round, lush and full from jump. Blackberry kirsch and cassis. Softening tannins but this wine has the stuffing to be a 50+ year wine IMO. Profound in its aged intensity. An exceptional special wine. Big ups to @Shawn R for this one.

Holy cow! I’m revisiting a few leftover ounces left in bottles from last night. This 1981 Cabernet has been open for nearly 36 hours sitting at room temp but there is not a hint of oxidation. And check out the color! This is still so fresh and vibrant that I would guess it to be more than 20 years younger than it is. @Shawn R what an amazing bottle! Thanks for bringing it.

1981 Diamond Creek Gravelly Meadow Cabernet Sauvignon. Still great fruit on the nose. Great acidity on the palate. Opened up after about 30 minutes medium body, smooth tannins. Cigar box, leather and dark fruits. Medium plus finish.
