This is Vinho Verde, not Douro. Bright and clear beige gold. No fizz. Light nose and light-bodied bright palate of underripe pear and concrete block. Firm acidity (of course) and medium long finish(surprisingly). Vinho Verde without the fizz makes a wonderfully light and bracing white for seafood or summer sipping. Drink now.

Nose: steel, mineral, ocean air, lemon peel and fruit, grapefruit, unripe pineapple

Palate: lemon juice, quite tart, dry, a bit pithy. A bit single note. No real length or complexity.

Big apple on the nose, round but not boring. Stood up well and complimented jerk shrimp.

Vinho Verde. Like a Pinot Grigio.

An excellent Portuguese white - Vino Verhde - never disappoints as a nice discovery of slate, citrus and a sharp bite at the end. Wonderful mouth feel all the way through. Cheers!

It’s all about context, people. On the deck after a day at the pool. This is smooth and refreshing. Not too tart. Smells like fruit salad - strawberries and pineapples (although my son swears it’s green apples) Smooth and light-medium bodied. Then a taste of green apples mellowed out with a touch caramel. Goes well with the smell of chlorine on my skin.

My first Vinho Verde. Just a touch of frizzy, mineral, fresh, maybe a tad sweet towards the end. I would describe it as a frizzy crossover between dry Riesling and Pinot Grigio.
