Delectus Vineyard and Winery
Boulder Falls Knights Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Could use some bottle age, but nice aromas of cedar and tobacco. On the palate, extracted black fruit, good acidity and chewy tannins. An almost licorice taste on the finish. Hard to describe.

Dec 6th, 2021Fittingly consumed during Euro 2020 final - tasty beginning but the real enjoyment was 90 mins later. Chocolate covered blueberry flavors with some tobacco and red licorice aromas.

May 14th, 2021Tasted right after finishing the 2009 Bear Crossing. This was also excellent and drinking well. An interesting comparison between the two. While the Bear Crossing had more depth, this one had greater breadth to the palate. Could be that this is ultimately a slightly better wine than the Bear Crossing and that it will gain some more weight in the next couple of years. Doesnβt much matter to me, though, since these were the only bottles of these two wines that I had in the cellar. Both excellent wines, though. Enjoy!

Sep 20th, 2020Earth ... Soil watered with morning rain. Greenery, rosemary, sage, stewed blackberries, with an overlay of vanilla wood. Beautiful long finish. Medium plus tannins. Wow so complex, I know I'm missing a ton. This sit atop my yearly list. Awesome πππ

This is my second time trying Delectus wines and so far I love them. I've had the Julia, this is the 2013 Boulder Falls Cabernet. This is a big, chewy cab that I probably should have waited on. But it definitely opened up after 2 hours. Flavors of ripe black cherry and raspberry dominate with some sweet oak on the finish. These folks do some nice wine coming out of Knights Valley.
