Deep dark tawny color. Notes of black fruit, iron, slate stone, earthy soil and a little menthol. Silky in the mouth. Maybe a tad below in performance from the last bottle of this. Very nice but not spectacular.

Ripe, structured, at maturity. Roasted black plum, smoked ribs, ash, mushrooms, saddle leather, peppercorn and herbs. Integrated and loving the richness this has from vintage at its age.

Dark purple tawny. Beautiful nose. Notes of black cherry, slate stone, spice, some ripened rhubarb, dark earth and roasted meat. Nice balance of fruit and structure in the mouth. In a good spot. Drink now or over next 5 years.

Scarlet tawny. Dark but translucent. Black cherry, some menthol. Woody. With air this powers up and has a big impact. Balanced in the mouth, with plenty of stuffing for a long life in front of it. The acidity is vibrant. Long finish.

Drinking near perfect, but would wonder if a few more years could be beneficial? 6+ hours in the decanter before it started to open tonight. Leather, earthy, red berries, a wonderful Syrah, with a flavor profile leaning towards Burgundy.

Opened a little funky but that blew off and it showed real elegance and grace. Soft and velvety mouthfeel. Just terrific.

Having 1999 bottle. Not a typical Syrah, has scents of lac on the first nose, although very elegant and balanced on the palette.

Even a notch better than my last one, tannins completely resolved, so big but yet light, everything’s together, heading to Burgville. Seek out, it’s a value with good provenance, but drink soon.

Another wow wine in the line up, took a while for a barnyard stank to blow off, but when it did, Syrah in its sweet spot. Brambly dark fruit, all soft edges, fading tannins in a perfect place. 2 minute finish. Outstanding.
