"Odedi"

Dark ruby in color with a reddish rim.

Medium plus in body with medium plus acidity.

Dry on the palate with mild complexity.

Showing black fruits with wood, earth, vegetables, spices, tobacco leaf, dark chocolates, coffee, earth, vegetables and black pepper.

Short finish with soft tannins and tangy cranberries.

This 8 year old Shiraz is past its prime, but still drinkable. A little unbalanced now, and better with food.

Will pair nicely with lamb dishes.

Aged in French and American oak barrels for 14 months.

14% alcohol by volume.

88 points.

$25.

I am really digging the wines John and Kym Davey are producing. Sustainability is their focus, from a 350 acre estate purchased by their grandfather in 1959. They show immense value and showcase their terrior in every layer. Velvet textured, and richly flavored full bodied wine - blackberry jam, charred meat, melted dark chocolate, vanilla bean, and cracked peppercorn mix are the star flavors of the show. Let it breathe for 1-2 hours, and it opens like a rose.

On the old world side of Australian Shiraz stylistically. More restrained fruit and amble herb/spice/earth notes. Damn tasty.

Maybe one of the best value Shiraz on the market. MV Shiraz with notes of tobacco, cedar and a slightly spicy finish. Tannins are nicely complemented with some structure. I'd easily buy this again.

Color of inky purple, with lighter shades on the rim. Nose of some cocoa, flowering note, fresh grape juice, some ripe berries and plummy notes. Taste is some good tannin strength, tobacco leaves, some ripe berries note, a bit zest, and some good acidity. Aftertaste of some lingering subtle acidity note, spice, some oaks, and hint of mineral note. On par.
