Dark ruby in color with a reddish rim.

Medium plus in body with medium plus acidity.

Dry on the palate with mild complexity.

Showing black fruits with wood, earth, vegetables, spices, tobacco leaf, dark chocolates, coffee, earth, vegetables and black pepper.

Short finish with soft tannins and tangy cranberries.

This 8 year old Shiraz is past its prime, but still drinkable. A little unbalanced now, and better with food.

Will pair nicely with lamb dishes.

Aged in French and American oak barrels for 14 months.

14% alcohol by volume.

88 points.

$25.

Dark Ruby with aromas of dark fruit and spice. The palate shows blackberry and plum with spice and firm tannins, slightly acidic. The wine is full bodied with a short sweet spice finish, with back of the throat alcohol warming. A bit off! Tasting Sample!

I am really digging the wines John and Kym Davey are producing. Sustainability is their focus, from a 350 acre estate purchased by their grandfather in 1959. They show immense value and showcase their terrior in every layer. Velvet textured, and richly flavored full bodied wine - blackberry jam, charred meat, melted dark chocolate, vanilla bean, and cracked peppercorn mix are the star flavors of the show. Let it breathe for 1-2 hours, and it opens like a rose.

Estate shiraz from the Davey Family at the Shingleback winery. 94 pts James Haliday, and I almost agree with him. Great aromas of grilled peppered steak, smoked Blackberry jam, cloves, and gravel dust. The pallet is silky, bright, and not quite so jammy as other Shiraz can be. Dark black raspberries and casis, black peppercorn, dried herbs, and blueberry tart dominate the fruit of the pallet, with a medium lingering finish. For sub $20, this is a great wine. Try with woodfire roasted sirloin and roasted veggies. Yum..

Very dry and tannic Syrah, lacks a bit of structure but otherwise enjoyable.

Smooth and spicy, notes of strong black pepper. Would be very good with a grilled steak.
