Tar and a red fruit compote nose. Tar and black fruit with dusty tannins on the palate. Goes well with football, kittens, and Wonder Woman.

100% Grenache. Deep ruby. Lots of charred oak initially. Slightly reduced. Deep Syrah like fruit. Well-balanced, tasty. Not very typical. 14.4%

One of our few non-French wines of the night. Very fresh and lively, lovely red fruit and aromatics.

Gorgeous light + to medium ruby, notes of strawberry preserves, crushed rock, tar and flowers with nose tickling heat. Long and sweet on the palate.

How does a glass of Grenache with a soft centred chocolate pudding sound?

Drooool 🤤

This bottle of d’Arenberg’s 2014 ‘The Derelict Vineyard’ Grenache from SA’s McLaren Vale is part of Wine Selectors 2019 Chef & The Cellar Calendar Case (12 months + 12 wines + 12 recipes). It’s the May wine match for Chef Peter Reschke’s Soft Centered Choc Pudding with d’Ary’s Derelict Gel. Anyone keen? 🙋‍♀️🙋‍♂️

I am definitely going to try this recipe. However in the meantime, here’s what I thought of the wine...

Pretty garnet shade in the glass with a nose full of rich black fruits and savouriness (think mushrooms & black olives) while in the mouth it’s full of juicy red & black berries with a generous sprinkling of spice. More please!

Thank you for this juicy sample Wine Selectors 😘🍷

All opinions are based on my own taste buds. Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy! #winesample

#sample: Who has visited the d’Arenberg Cube? Post a pic below! I have heard it’s pretty impressive.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I tried this d’Arenberg The Derelict Vineyard 2013 Grenache from McLaren Vale on the weekend. It’s part of the newly released @wineselectors ‘Family Favourites Collection’ which is a case of #wine from Australia’s First Families of Wine @affwine. The case includes each families fave wine and recipe.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
To help celebrate I have a 10% discount code you can use storewide at www.wineselectors.com.au - simply spend over $150 and type in promo code ‘TTCS’ at checkout 🍾🍾🍾
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
My tasting note 📝: Deep ruby red colour in the glass. On the nose it smells like freshly varnished wood with vanilla infused raisins. I love how Mr Spittoon described this wine, ‘like a port but without the sweetness’. I have to admit it went down very easily with nice silky tannins and a smooth texture.
