Dandelion Vineyards
Wonderland of the Eden Valley Riesling
Enjoying some wonderful aged Australian Rieslings from my cellar currently. This from the Eden Valley was almost as impressive as the Eldredge from the Clare a few days ago. Pale Lemon in colour. Nose of mandarin rind, pith and flesh, dried flowers but no Kero. The palate is showing Mandarin juice, a touch of sweetness and low acid. This wine has blossomed with cellaring, becoming delicious after the austerity of its youth. The vineyard was planted in 1912. Colin Kroehn as at 2012 has tended this vineyard for 66 of his 86 years.

Aug 25th, 2020Great stuff. Plenty of primary lime and citrus zing. Bottle age complexity starting to emerge.

Apr 28th, 2019Everything is here but it just doesn't have that palate concentration and finesse. Plenty of power but it over came my palate after a while. Good at 6 years and for another 10.

Jun 29th, 2018My earlier notes indicated a degree of austerity but now at 5 years of age it has blossomed. Still has that Eden Valley Lime citrus note now developing more florals. On the palate the flavours are fuller developing a touch of sweetness. Drinking at its peak but will stay on the plateau for some time yet with the acid cut at the finish.

Nov 23rd, 2017A correct Eden Riesling though without the concentration I would expect (only medium). Still quite youthful (2012) & still without the petrol notes I expect to find even in young Aussie Riesling.
