Welcome to the weekend. We are starting to wake from our long slumber 4 months and things are starting to transition back to some assemblance of normalcy. Tonight I have opened the 2014 Cuvelier Los Andes Colección from the Valle de Uco of Mendoza, Argentina. The blend is 68% Malbec, 24% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Merlot and 3% Petit Verdot.

On the nose there is dark ripe cherry, blackberry, ripe plum, black currant, fig, black licorice, cocoa, sweet tobacco and earth.

The palate shows black cherry, blackberry, plum, green bell pepper, licorice, dark chocolate, tobacco, oak and earth.

This wine is full bodied with a velvety and unctuous mouth feel, medium + acidity and medium + crunchy tannins that lead right into a long earthy black fruit finish. I hope everyone is well and healthy, please stay safe and have a great weekend. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷

Dark and intense in color with a vibrant purple rim. Scents of black pepper, bell pepper, fresh pencil shavings, currant, dark sour fruits; plums an dark cherries. Flavors mirror the scent with black currant being in the forefront. Amply tannic, almost chewy and vibrant acidity. Well balanced and goes well with what all Argentinian wines go well with.......beef!!!

Pungent black pepper, black currant leaf and berry. Good structure and texture but strong alcohol.

Nice color of dark ruby with a wide ruby rim.

On the nose, black currants, plums, blackberries, licorice, chocolates, alcohol, vegetables, vanilla, oak, vinaigrette, cloves, earth and peppercorn.

Full bodied but not bold, with medium plus acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate and fruity, with blackberries, cherries, earth, leather, green vegetables, herbs, chocolates, smoke, licorice, vinaigrette, spices, pencil lead, cloves, bitter herbs and black pepper.

Medium plus on the finish with green, firm tannins and tart cranberries.

This Bordeaux blend from Mendoza is still unbalanced and harsh, even after 90 minutes of airtime. A little bitter too, but shows nice complexity, with lots of green notes. A good red "Bordeaux" for a great price.

Better with food than just by itself at this point. However, it is a good quality wine.

Needs a few more years in the bottle to mature.

A blend of 58% Malbec, 18% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Petit Verdot, 8% Syrah and 4% Merlot.

Grapes are hand harvested in the foot hills of the Andes Mountains. Aged for 12 months in French oak barrels and Unfiltered.

14.5% alcohol by volume.

A sturdy mare. Mussel shell, blackberry mignonette, cedar cones, blueberries, rye toast, Parmesan crisps, chocolate and pencil shavings aswim in raspberry liqueur. Medium heavy mouthfeel on this swarthy beast. Tar, cedar bark and black currants with mocha espresso, thyme, allspice and graphite. Take this black beauty to the track for a few laps. #CuvelierLosAndes #LeovillePoyferré #Uco #ValledeUco #Argentineanwine #sawine #malbecmalbec #malbecsyrahblend

Very ripe as it should be but with a nod toward bdx. Hint of brett, lots of earth and minerality woven with the ripe black fruit and cedar. 12 months in french oak adds roundness, i like. For 24$, this shit rocks. Leoville-Poyferres South American effort.
