Bit out of sync & closed atm but all the stuffing is there for when it reemerges as something altogether gorgeous.

Revisiting this one, this time in a 750mL rather than the half bottle. More in balance than the half bottle, which I found polarising. Still a prominent, distinctive nose with loads of struck match, some cabbagey vegetal elements and very subtle fruit beneath. Unripe stonefruit and citrus palate with some nuttiness and a soft, slightly pithy finish. The nose is certainly unique, but perhaps not my favourite vintage of this wine.

(It's 2011 vs 2013 tonight, in a half bottle mini vertical.) Whoa! That's one FUNKY nose! And not in a good way. It blew off to some extent after ten minutes in the glass, but it's an off-putting intro to this vintage. Beneath is a softer example of this wine, a bit wanting in structure and falling away at the finish. Perhaps a faulty bottle? HAD to decant this one, after attempting a glass, in order to blow off the foul initial odour and now it's revealing a lot more: some honey and brioche, with a citrus line cutting through. Hard to rate with that initial confronting funk!
