Deep Ruby with aromas of black fruits, toasty and spice notes, from high altitude vineyards. On the palate flavors of blackberry and black cherry with notes of herb, mocha and tobacco. Medium finish, firm tannins, ending with fruit, herb and mineral spice character. Drink now no aging benefit!

Dark ruby in color with a purple rim.

Fruity on the nose with blueberries, sweet plums, sweet cherries, red candy, vanilla, spices, cinnamon, wet leaves, light earth, vegetables and black pepper.

Medium bodied with medium plus acidity.

Dry on the palate with cherries, cranberries, raspberries, wood, licorice, earth, spices, peppercorn, leather, tobacco and herbs.

Medium finish with fine grained tannins and tart raspberries.

This Argentinian Malbec is light and unbalanced. Drinkable and better with food. The nose is very attractive, but the palate is disappointing. Not very complex at all, with an aftertaste. Not my style.

Wine Enthusiasts 83 points.

Needs 90 minutes to open up and show some tannins.

Aged for 9 months in French (70%) and American oak barrels.

12.5% alcohol by volume.

80 points.

$15.

This is a really good wine. For a full bodied wine it has a nice light finish. Full of cherry and blackberry with a bit of pepper.

First ever wine review, so please forgive me. Aroma is black currant, blueberry jam, spice and a nice dose of alcohol. Taste is slight oak, new oak I imagine, with additional berry notes and finishes dry.

Well I bought this at Total Wine to make mulled wine with. Ended up opening it up with friends instead.

Dark ruby color with whiffs of strong spices, aged tobacco, and wood. There are some fruits as well, maybe blackberry? It’s hard to tell. Tart fruit flavors, like cranberry, medium bodied and light tannins. Pretty weak finish.

It’s probably better as mulled wine.

A tame malbec. Dark fruit with a heavy prune and plum nos and a little bit of oak of sweet tobacco. Balanced. Fairly smooth finish.

Cruz Alta Grand Reserve Malbec...so smooth. Peppery like a Zinfandel, but lighter. A great red to have with food...but also great all by itself.
