Too young, but still great after an hour in the decanter. Red raspberry essence with tea, dried flowers, herbal and stemmy, but not green, fine tannins give great texture.

We had two Cristom wines last night, this 2012 and a 2015. It was an interesting comparison and I was surprised by which one I liked more. Based on the vintage, I expected to prefer the 2012, but the 2015 was my favorite. That's not to say that the 2012 was bad. Far from it. The 2012 was deep and rich for an Oregon Pinot. Instead of tart cherry, it had ripe, rich cherry notes plus a touch of pepper and spice. The finish was enjoyable, but not as long or complex as the finish on the 2015.
