Drank 2/13/21

A costco buy.

Black licorice, dusty earth, red cherry, and tar on the medium scent profile. Red cherry, earth , and leather on the palate are a bit restrained. Medium body finishes with sour cherry, and dry, dusty tannins.

3/19/7/4/4 +50 = 88 pts.

This is a nice Barolo from Italy.
Showing cherries, red currants, spices, oak, peppercorn, earth, green vegetables, herbs, black tea, rose pedals, barnyard, tobacco leaf and black pepper.

Medium plus in body with medium plus acidity.

Showing a very nice nose, and very dry on the palate with mild complexity.

Medium on the finish with medium plus tannins and tangy raspberries.

This Barolo need a few hours to open up properly.

A good food wine that will pair nicely with BBQ Meats.

Still unbalanced and would be nice to revisit it in a few years.

I paired it with cheeses and crackers.

13.5% alcohol by volume.

88 points.

$25.

Everyday Barolo. Simple fruit aromas and flavors. Better on day 2. Checked the box on this one.

Color of light purple with a mix of black tea. Clear. Nose of nice dried strawberry, aldehyde, distinctive tobacco leaves, strength of alcohol, and a bit fermented cabbage. Taste of good quality tannins, still bold, nice zest, nice ripe grapes, nice seducing alcohol content, black pepper, a bit mineral, some flowering and black tea note, and a bit plum. Balanced and quite long finish.

Nice barolo. Just what I was expecting. This second bottle first was not good at all

This btl is awful. Probably low-grade cork taint, so I would prefer not to assign a score, but behind that: pruny, stewed fruit. Cooked or corked: choose your own misadventure.

Not a super complex Barolo, but thoroughly enjoyable from first to last drop, and ready to drink after a short decanting . Bright and silky with red berries, sour cherry, and a little strawberry, licorice, white pepper, hint of baking spice, and medicinal herbs for balance.

this is madness in a bottle! barolo. lip smacking, mouth coating, dark fruit bursting, smooth as silk barolo ... wait for it ... for $18 on last bottle! sure, you have to decant for three hours to get rid of the pure alcohol taste, but once gone, you get the feeling that this is what you drink out of the water fountains in heaven.

A Barolo that checks all the boxes and only costs $15? Unbelievable but true ($25 less $10 rebate at Costco).

High tone acidity and unyielding tannins that I hope will mellow with further aging. Certainly not a complex Barolo and lacking a bit in the elegance department at this stage.

Extraordinary value.
