Continuum’s second label. Decanted about 45 minutes. Very young but shows tons of promise! Mostly Cabernet Sauvignon (90%) with some Petit Verdot and Cab Franc.

Day 2 of Napa in the books!

Started off our day at Continuum. One of the most beautiful and sleek in style properties I’ve ever been to. Incredible layout and dedication to land. This Novicium is 89% cab, 11% CF I believe. About twice as much cab percentage than their flagship Continuum. Made from younger vines. Very floral aromatics of potpourri and sage (lots of this around the property). Heavy mid palate sandwiched between fairly light front and finish. Dark cocoa dusted dates, graphite, and blackberry.

Loved how this was showing. CF dominant, lifted and fresh with such deep concentration and purity of fruit. This has stuffing as well, a structure that can support aging I would guess. Pretty layered and complex for a “second” wine.

Who says 2011 is an off vintage. Big black and blue bruiser.

Deep and dark ruby red. Perfumey nose, with purple floral notes. Some dark berries and light baking spices as well as cola too. Lots of vanilla, and soft black fruits on the palate. Moderate tannins (6.5/10) and medium plus bodied. Long finish. Really approachable.

Love! New world cab done with a flash and a bang. Glossy mouthfeel, deep black fruit on the mid palate and a sweet oak finish. I could cocktail on this wine for days. Big, rich and round without being over the top.
