Time for some Merlot on this #MerlotThursday.

Ruby in color with a wide reddish rim.

Earthy nose with bell pepper, vegetables, blueberries, light wood, wet leaves, dark coffee, spices, earth and black pepper.

Medium plus in body with medium plus acidity.

Dry on the palate with currants, plums, green pepper, oak, licorice, cloves, earth, vegetables, wet leaves and peppercorn.

Medium finish with round tannins and tangy raspberries.

This is a simple Merlot from Chile. Spicy and tangy.

Very green at this point, and needs a few hours to open up properly.

Still young and unbalanced, and would be better in 3 years.

Good by itself and better with food. I paired it with cheeses, nuts and fresh fruit.

13.5% alcohol by volume.

88 points.

$10.

Not too fruity, smooth. Has some spice and maybe a hint cocoa?

Founded in 1883, Vina Concha y Toro is Latin America's leading producer currently exporting to 135 countries. Dark Ruby with tart red fruit aromas and baking spice. On the palate blackberry flavors emerge with savory spice hinting that maybe some Carmenere was added to the blend. Firm tannins medium finish ending with spicy character. Drink now.
