Badia a Coltibuono, or "The Abbey of good harvest," lies in the heart of the Chianti Classico area, between Florence and Siena. The Abbey is approximately two thousand years old. Bright red with aromas of black fruit and a spicy nose. On the palate blackberry and cherry with savory tannins, good balance, noting black pepper and cacao. Medium finish ending with earthy mineral tones.

Found a bottle I got from a tasting. Located in the Gaiole district of Chianti, Badia a Coltibuono, which translates to “Abbey of the Good Harvest”, was founded in the 11th century by Vallombrosan monks. The Stucchi Prinetti family purchased the 173 acre property from the church in 1846. Ruby with aromas of fresh berry fruits and slight spicy notes. On the palate Cherry and Cranberry flavors, well balanced with acidity and smooth tannins. The finish is long ending with earthy minerality.
