Colgin
IX Estate Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Blend

Beautiful dark black-purple color. With a bouquet of dark cherry and cassis nose mixed with green veggie, eucalyptus and forest floor. Tastes of dark blueberry, blackberry and currant fruit; smooth and silky in the mouth. Tannic, pencil lead, and spice finish with some heat on the throat. Lovely rich and bold wine.

Off to Napa tomorrow for a big wine dinner from Cliff Lede wines...so had to break out a big Napa cab tonight.
Decanted 1 hour (decent amount of fine sediment). Color is an intimidating dark black/purple. On the nose: blueberry, forest floor, cassis, mint. Taste: blueberry. BlackBerry, pencil lead, currents, spice...nice full silky mouthfeel with a little tannic grip and a little heat from the alcohol(+15.6!!) at the end...drinking nicely but could use a couple more years.

My favorite of LRR25 wine tasting. Dark red and smooth, but bold flavor

Apr 1st, 2017A little hot but makes up for it in complexity...seamless tannins and perfect with a dry aged New York strip
