Welcome to the weekend and I have opened the 2017 Colene Clemens Vinyards Dopp Creek Estate Pinot Noir - Chehalem Mountains.
On the nose there us strawberry, blackberry, cherry, clove, menthol, cola, smokey oak and sassafras.
The palate gives me cherry, pomegranate, raspberry, cola, clove, baking spices, smokey oak and an earth component.
This wine is medium to full bodied with medium plus acidity and medium smooth tannins that brings you to a medium to long smokey oak finish. If you like a big presents of oak in your pinot noir this is for you. I would say this leans more towards a California Pinot Noir than an Oregon Pinot Noir that I have come to love. A more concentrated style a la Beaux Frères or even Patz and Hall. Big and juicy, a touch of reduction, skillful oak.
