Clot de l'Origine
L'Original Côtes du Roussillon White Blend
Unsure of the exact blend here, either Macabeu/Syrah or Macabeu/Muscat, either or, delicious.
Cloudy golden straw color. Ripe pineapple, overripe pear and white flowers on the nose. Honey, apricot, cinnamon (light), medium acidity on the palate.
Biodynamic and spontaneously fermented. Paired this along halibut cooked in sous vide then quickly pan finished with a touch of butter on the stove, a decent combination. I think this wine would shine with something fatty, like foie gras or a good hard cheese.

Another quaffer. Pure, fresh, textural. Apparently a skinsy, but ever so lightly so. Apple, pears, candied ginger, ripping acidity, saline. So delicious and so refreshing in the tropical weather.
First time trying this producer and wine. From old vine Macebau, might contain a touch Syrah and/or Muscat - the information varies online. Biodynamics, minimal intervention.

It looks like the late-afternoon sun in March, just barely golden, and smells like a Pinterest-perfect bridal bouquet of white lilies, candied ginger, and sprigs of thyme, tied with an orange-rind bow. “l’Original” starts juicy with layers of spiced cantaloupe and soft apples but finishes dry with lemon zest and limestone minerality.

Oct 9th, 20162012 "l'Original" Macabeu
Sight: Clear, light amber.
Nose: Clean, dried apricots, golden fruits, honey, wet stone, dried grass. Beautiful fall wine.
Palate: Dry, medium plus acidity, full body. Flavors of dried apricots and golden fruits, dried grass, baking spices, seasoned oak. Long finish.
Conclusion: Outstanding wine for $21.99.

I don't even know. It's bone dry. But yet ends slightly up. Just...ummmm well it makes me feel like I lack sophistication on my palette.

Feb 9th, 2014Tasting pour at Raw Wine LA. Another “original” from Clot d’Origine, this is a dry white blend of Macabeu and direct press Syrah. Didn’t take notes so I hesitate to score, but recall enjoying it for its unique character.
