Clos La Coutale
Cahors Merlot
Pleasant, good value Malbec (85% with 15% Merlot) with raspberry, dark plum, cocoa and pencil lead notes on a firm spine. Good focus and energy here, and quite food friendly to boot.

Feb 19th, 2020Wild/rustic boysenberry, smoke, spice, minerality, charcoal, garrigue, menthol, soft tannins and balancing acid. Kermit Lynch does it again, always finds a prime example. Steak a little big for it, but working.

Aug 15th, 2017Dark ruby in color with a reddish rim and medium intensity.
Nose of cherries, cranberries, red currants, oak, smoke, vegetables, herbs, bell pepper, peppercorn, spices, green beans, earth and black pepper.
Medium bodied with medium plus acidity and nice legs.
Tart on the attack and dry on the palate with cranberries, strawberries, wood, licorice, earth, forest floor, green vegetables, graphite, black pepper and spices.
Medium finish with soft tannins and tart cranberries.
This French Malbec is unbalanced with mild complexity. Drinkable by itself, but better with food.
Nothing special here. Earthy and funky. Not my style.
A blend of 80% Malbec and 20% Merlot.
13.5% alcohol by volume.
