Clos du Moulin aux Moines
Moulin aux Moines Monopole Auxey-Duresses Chardonnay
Auxey-Duresses, Côte de Beaune, Burgundy, France

Delicious. Nose has that mineral “stank” that I associate with Auxey in spades and love. Deep fruit, sidling up from the apple side of the spectrum to the peach side, along with nice wet straw notes. Hint of melted butter. On the palate it’s concentrated but nicely balanced. Nice length and intensity. Best vintage of this wine I’ve had yet.

Auxey is one of my favorite towns for white burgundy, and this has everything I like. Complex nose of wet limestone and moist soil, a wee bit of toasted nuts, and sweet lemon oil. A strong punch of fruit (vaguely appley) and acid initially, but gives way to intense stony minerality as the zesty finish progresses. Love it.

Really highlights the terroir/earthy side of white burgundy—which I kind of expect from Auxey. Nose has wet, limestoney Burgundian earth with a dash of pond rocks, notes of lemon oil and butterscotch, a little barely ripe peach fruit. Round and soft in the mouth, with a good initial whack, though the acids are a little lower than I’d ideally like. Satisfying that Burgundian itch tonight.

Loaded with toffee and caramel and lemon. Either premox, or slight botrytis, not just “ripe fruit” in here. Will see what community notes are. Would never guess white burg.

Wonderful lemon curd and stone washed purity, with a unexpectedly forward use of oak. Delightful

More Malo than I expected with a nice acidity to balance it out - more new world for sure
