Vibrant ruby. Smoke-accented cherry and red berries on the highly perfumed nose, which takes on sexy incense and baking spice nuances with air. Smooth, concentrated and appealingly sweet, offering mineral- and spice-accented boysenberry, cherry and floral pastille flavors and a spicy touch of cracked pepper. Finishes silky, sweet and impressively long, with harmonious tannins and lingering spiciness. (Josh Raynolds, Vinous, February 2020)

Broad and rich, but with copious alcohol and very low acidity. Nice mix of ripe fruit and stony minerality but too overblown for me.

A bit of Grenache funk balanced with stone fruit and solid rock. Full body for a pinky. Stone fruit speaks up: dark dark plum and cherries. Then some raspberry. All rising from mud. Lovely mud.

My oh my. This is why I loved aged Rhone wines. garrigue, kirsch, and surprisingly integrated tannins and alcohol. Slight gamey nose. More refined and delicate than most southern Rhone wines.

This is a straight-up crock of dark cherry preserves made with fresh vanilla bean dang that should be all I need to say but I'll say so much more: I rate this vin as that reliable friend who is also a colleague or a potential colleague. As all artists in LA are wont to be, hehehe. Ya never know who is who might develop into a star but you've got a feeling. But you like this friend/colleague. You respect them. They are strong and balanced and have within them the strength and acid wit to make you think they may develop into a super-success. AKA I wish I'd bought more than one so I could try this in a couple years. You kinda wish that whatever they may become (which you expect to be great) they were now. You wish you'd bought 2 bottles of this friend (ahem) because you suspect in 3 years they will be more complicated in delightful ways. Oof. But right now you really adore this friend. Clos du Joncuas is gonna stay in your life. It's a partnership based on trust and love. Also! Analysis of our friend: Body: purple ruby dark and thick slow tears. Zee nose: blueberries, blackberries,a hint of black currant, vanilla and clove. And cinnamon. Mellow cinnamon. On the tongue: dry, hallelujah because wine like humor (in your snobby opinion) are best dry. Medium acid, tannins are medium. Alcohol is getting up on the high side (if you cannot tell from my notes) and the body is smooth, medium strength and persuasive. More dark fruit on the palate.

Not giving too much at the moment. Nothing too exciting but perfectly yummy. Needs another year or so. #gigondas #closdujoncuas #rhonevalley #grenache #ctbucklinwine
