Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of an hour. The 2013 Les Tremblais pours a pale straw color with a persistent mousse. On the nose, the wine is youthful with bright yellow raspberry, pomelo, dried lemon white flowers and minerals. On the palate, the wine is dry with high acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long, with seemingly endless energy and immediately transports me back to the natural amphitheater of Chamery. To describe it as soulful simply isn’t enough. This is a wild, laser beam of a champagne and yet there’s a gentleness in the texture; about as true to its place as I could imagine. Drink now through 2048. Disgorged March of 2025. Only 1063 bottles made…which is hilariously small. Thanks for the assist @Lyle Fass

Pinot Meunier and Pinot Noir, and just an extraordinary Champagne. More angular and elbows-out at first because 2013 is 2013: acid, chalk, force, mineral severity. But with air it became breathtaking. Powerful, electric, Meunier-driven, wildly food-friendly, then the acid folded into lithe finesse and elegance. With foie gras and cheese, unreal. One of the great bottles of the year.
