Fantastic. A brick red in the glass. Nose is refined with dust, roses, red fruits and tar. Palate is fairly high-toned, with graphite and dark cherries. Nice finish and in a great place now.

Nice wine, but probably better a few years ago. At this point the acid is peaking a bit more than ideal (and that’s from someone who really likes acid). But still a great reminder of why well aged brunello is quite delicious and a great food pairing.

2001 Ciacci Piccolomini d'Aragona Brunello. Drank w K and Brad/Sue at Toscana. Hadn't had this before and we both enjoyed it very much. Smooth and easy to drink, with balanced fruit and tannins.
