Top Notes For
First impressions immediately after opening... like getting smashed in the mouth. The smooth entry gives way to a harsh mid palate full of dark, stewing fruits and a clobbering of alcohol. Second sip I know what I'm in for, but can't say it's a pleasant sensation. 7.8 today. Will give it time in the glass and revisit... Day 2: 24 hours open and it's relaxed immensely. No longer brutal through the mid palate; instead it's a rich mix of juicy, chewy blue and black fruit with some oak sweetness. Coats the mouth. Good drinking today! 8.7 Day 3: It's had 48 hours and its drinking nicely now, but showing early signs of oxidation. Super smooth now. Drink it between 24 and 48 hours and you'll be rewarded. Day 4: It's still holding up, surprisingly. Still chewy.
