In the palate, oaky, ML notes clearly front and center, but quite pleasant. Golden delicious apple, ginger, and some mushroom on the finish. Great acidity, very good, well made new world chard. I really wonder what the oak notes would have done with a cork. Can hold a bit, I wonder if the mushroom notes will come to the fore...
